Edo Decides: Governor Fintiri Accuses INEC of Election Rule Violations

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been accused by Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, of violating the Electoral Act.
Fintiri, the chairman of the Edo PDP National Campaign Council, made these claims during a press conference held on Sunday, September 22, at the party’s situation room in Benin City, the capital of Edo State.
He stated that agents of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were barred from entering collation centres, which raised concerns about the transparency and fairness of the ongoing election.
This was revealed in a video aired by Channels TV on Sunday, September 22.
The statement reads: “I did not announce, I’m quite aware of the Electoral Act provision, and I did not announce results. I only informed the public about the exact figure from our coalition agenda that was ongoing before INEC disrupted the process and they moved the coalition to the INEC headquarters, which is also contrary to the Electoral Act provision.
“So INEC should be accused of violating the electoral act, not me because I have not announced any result. I only released figures that were ongoing as at the coalition time that INEC stopped coalition at this sentence.”
