Akwa Ibom: Eight Feared Dead in Helicopter Crash

A helicopter crash in Akwa Ibom State has left six oil workers and two crew members feared dead.

The chopper ditched and nosed into the Atlantic Ocean while the victims were at work at the OML 123 oil field. 

Prior to the incident, the victims were working at the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel on the Mimbo platform at approximately 11:40 a.m. 

All of the victims on board were feared dead, according to a source who made hints about the development.

“There were six personnel and two crew members onboard the helicopter. Three bodies have been recovered so far. Search and rescue is ongoing.

“The helicopter belongs to Eastwind Aviation,” the source stated.
