In his first public speech since Israel killed Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah last week, Deputy Leader Naim Qassem declared that the movement is prepared to repel any Israeli ground invasion of Lebanon.

Israel will not achieve its goals, he said.

“We will face any possibility and we are ready if the Israelis decide to enter by land and the resistance forces are ready for a ground engagement,” he said.

During a two-week offensive against targets in Lebanon, Israeli forces have inflicted Hezbollah significant blows, including the elimination of senior commanders.

 Many people speculate that Israel’s next move would be to send tanks and ground troops across the border.
