Humanitarian Minister Yilwatda Takes Helm as APC National Chairman

In a significant political development, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, has been unanimously elected as the new national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The announcement was made during the APC’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on Thursday at the State House in Abuja.
Yilwatda, a consensus choice of the NEC, steps into the role vacated by Abdullahi Ganduje, who officially resigned as chairman on June 27.
The meeting was attended by President Bola Tinubu, members of the Progressives Governors Forum, and senior party leaders.
Hailing from Plateau State, Yilwatda brings his expertise as an engineer and academic to the leadership of the APC, marking a new chapter for the party.
He was the flagrunner for the APC in the 2023 gubernatorial elections in Plateau .
Between July 2017 – December 2021, he held the position of resident electoral commissioner in Benue state.
Also, he was the ICT director at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, for 12 years.
