NNPC Denounces Fake AI-Generated Video Promoting False Scheme

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has disclaimed an AI-generated video circulating on social media that uses a cloned voice of its Group CEO, Mr. Bayo Ojulari, to advertise a bogus poverty alleviation scheme.

In a statement released on Thursday, NNPC’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, firmly clarified that the company has no involvement in such an investment initiative and warned the public to disregard the fraudulent claims.

Soneye urged the public to disregard the video, originally shared by an account named Mensageiro de Cristo on Facebook.

“NNPC Ltd. has warned the perpetrators to cease their fraudulent actions or face legal consequences,” he said.
