Kudirat Kekere-Ekun has been sworn in as the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) by President Bola Tinubu following her confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.
The ceremony, held at the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja, was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and several ministers, including Muhammed Idris (Information), Nyesom Wike (FCT), Lateef Fagbemi (Justice), and Mr. Zephaniah (Special Duties).
In August, President Tinubu appointed Justice Kekere-Ekun as acting Chief Justice following the retirement of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.
Justice Kekere-Ekun is now the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria and the second woman to hold the position, after Justice Alooma Mukhtar.
