Putin Has No Concrete Plans Yet To Speak To Trump – Kremlin

The Kremlin on Monday said that Russian President Vladimir Putin has no specific intentions to communicate with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump and refuted rumors that Trump had spoken with Putin in recent days.

The Washington Post, citing unnamed sources, initially reported that a call had occurred in which Trump advised Putin against escalating the Ukraine conflict. Reuters also confirmed the call through an unidentified source.

“This is completely untrue. This is pure fiction, it’s just false information,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters. “There was no conversation.”

“This is the most obvious example of the quality of the information that is being published now, sometimes even in fairly reputable publications,” Peskov said.

Asked if Putin had plans for any contacts with Trump, Peskov said: “There are no concrete plans yet.”

On Thursday, Putin congratulated Trump, commending his courage during a recent assassination attempt, and expressed Moscow’s readiness to engage in dialogue with the Republican president-elect.
