NOA Advocates Peaceful Resolution for Farmers-Herders Conflicts in Yobe

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has encouraged farmers and herders in Yobe to prioritize dialogue to settle disputes and promote harmony.
In a discussion with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Damaturu, NOA State Director Alhaji Muhammed Tikau stressed the importance of mutual respect and adherence to designated boundaries to prevent ongoing conflicts.
Tikau noted that specific grazing zones have been allocated for herders’ livestock, urging farmers to respect these areas to reduce tensions and disputes.
“The importance of peaceful coexistence cannot be overemphasised. Both farmers and herders play critical roles in ensuring food security and economic development in Nigeria,” he said.
The director urged stakeholders, including traditional and community leaders to support initiatives aimed at promoting harmony between herding and farming communities.
According to him, sustained peace and dialogue will enable communities to carry out their economic activities without fear of disruption or violence.
Tikau reiterated NOA’s commitment to promoting national unity, social cohesion, and conflict prevention through continuous engagement with grassroots communities across the state.
