53-Year-Old Arrested After Car Smashes into Liverpool Trophy Parade Crowd

Merseyside Police have arrested a 53-year-old white British man after a car plowed into pedestrians during Liverpool’s Premier League trophy parade, sending shockwaves through the celebration.

The incident, which occurred on Monday, resulted in 27 people being rushed to the hospital by ambulance. According to Liverpool City Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram, four of the victims remain in critical condition, described as “very, very ill” in hospital.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live: “The actual incident in Water Street will live with those people for all the wrong reasons and that’s where we have to really focus our minds.

“There are still four people who are very, very ill in hospital and we are hoping of course that they pull through very, very quickly.”

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash as fans and city leaders express shock and concern over the tragic turn of events during what was meant to be a night of celebration.
