Vice-President Kashim Shettima has left London, accompanying the body of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday at a medical facility in the city. This was announced by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Vice-President’s Office, in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja.

Nkwocha said ” I can only confirm that the Vice-President Kashim Shettima, as directed by President Bola Tinubu, has departed London for Nigeria in the company of some family members of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

” They are accompanying the remains of the late former President for burial in Daura, Katsina State later today.

” Other members of the Federal Government’s delegation, as sent by President Tinubu, have also departed for Nigeria, ” he said.

The Federal Government has designated Tuesday as a public holiday to honor the memory of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday. This declaration is part of a seven-day nationwide mourning period announced by President Bola Tinubu to celebrate Buhari’s life and contributions.
