Hajj 2025: Saudi Arabia Suspends Certain Visa Categories for Nigeria, 13 Other Countries

Saudi Arabia has implemented a temporary suspension of specific visa types for citizens of 14 countries, including Nigeria, India, and Pakistan, as part of new travel regulations ahead of the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.
Reports indicate that, starting from April 2025, the Saudi government will halt the issuance of Umrah, family visit, and business visas for nationals from the affected countries.
The suspension is expected to last until June 2025, coinciding with the conclusion of the Hajj season.
Officials clarified that the suspension does not affect pilgrims properly registered for the Hajj.
Nigerians and others intending to perform the religious rites in Makkah and Madinah through official Hajj channels will still be allowed entry into the Kingdom.
The restrictions are designed to address the rising issue of unauthorized individuals using Umrah or visit visas to partake in the Hajj without proper registration, which has led to overcrowding and significant logistical challenges.
This visa suspension is a response to growing concerns over illegal overstays and unregulated pilgrim movement, especially following the tragic events of the 2024 Hajj, where overcrowding and extreme heat resulted in the loss of thousands of lives.
