Israel Accuses Iran of Breaking Trump-Announced Ceasefire

On Tuesday, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz announced that he had directed the military to conduct airstrikes on Tehran, claiming Iran violated a ceasefire agreement brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump earlier that day.

Katz alleged that Iran fired missiles, breaching the truce.

Iran rejected the accusations, with its armed forces general staff stating no missiles were launched toward Israel in recent hours, according to Iran’s Nour News.

The escalation casts uncertainty over the ceasefire, which aimed to halt 12 days of conflict between the two nations.

Katz said in a statement he had ordered Israel’s military to “continue high-intensity operations targeting regime assets and terror infrastructure in Tehran” in light of “Iran’s blatant violation of the ceasefire declared by the President of the United States.”

Hours earlier, Trump had posted on Truth Social: “THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT!”
