Gov. Fubara Unable to Re-Present 2025 Budget To Assembly

The Rivers State crisis took a new turn today as Governor Siminalayi Fubara was unable to re-present the 2025 appropriation bill to the State House of Assembly.

Upon arriving at the Aba Road quarters, where the lawmakers have been holding their sessions, the governor found the premises inaccessible.

With no lawmakers present to receive him and security personnel absent at the gate, Fubara was left unable to proceed with the budget presentation.

The standoff between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Amaewhule-led Rivers State House of Assembly has intensified following the Supreme Court’s ruling directing the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Attorney General of the Federation to halt the state’s statutory allocation.

Efforts at reconciliation hit a dead end after the governor extended an invitation for peace talks, which the lawmakers declined.

Meanwhile, Fubara was unable to meet the Assembly’s 48-hour ultimatum to re-present the 2025 budget, further deepening the political crisis in the state.
