Ukraine: Russian Missiles Damage EU and British Offices

On Thursday, Russia launched a series of missile and drone strikes across Ukraine, marking one of the deadliest attacks since the invasion began in February 2022. 

The assault, described as the second-largest of the conflict, claimed at least 19 lives in Kyiv, including four children, according to city officials. 

The strikes damaged civilian infrastructure, including the offices of the European Union and the British Council, prompting strong condemnation from Western leaders. 

U.S. Special Envoy to Ukraine Keith Kellogg stated that the attacks undermined President Donald Trump’s ongoing peace initiatives. 

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the barrage Moscow’s direct response to diplomatic efforts to end the war, urging stronger international action against Russia.

“The targets? Not soldiers and weapons but residential areas in Kyiv—blasting civilian trains, the EU & British mission council offices, and innocent civilians,” U.S. special envoy Keith Kellogg said on Х.

Zelenskiy said the strikes also damaged a Turkish enterprise and the Azerbaijan embassy.

The European Union and Britain summoned Russian envoys to protest. There were no reports of casualties at either site.

The strikes took place less than two weeks after Trump hosted Russian President Vladimir Putin at a summit in Alaska, a meeting the U.S. president hoped would advance his peace efforts.

“Russia chooses ballistics instead of the negotiating table,” Zelenskiy said on X, calling for new sanctions on Russia. “It chooses to continue killing instead of ending the war.”
