Appointment List: Presidency Apologises for Inaccuracies, Promises to Provide Updated Version

Sunday Dare, Special Adviser on Media & Public Communication and Spokesperson to President Bola Tinubu, has apologised for errors in the list of federal appointments recently released to address claims of bias in Tinubu’s selection of appointees.

The list was issued in response to the accusation levelled against Tinubu by Senator Ali Ndume, an APC lawmaker representing Borno South, during a recent interview with Arise Television.

Ndume stated that, although he is a member of the ruling party, his duty as a legislator compelled him to speak out on the issue.

President Tinubu’s appointments have faced criticism, with accusations that he favours individuals from his ethnic background at the expense of broader regional representation.

However, the Presidency proceeded to release a detailed analysis of President Tinubu’s appointments, categorized by geo-political zones, in response to these criticisms.

According to the document, 29 appointments were from the South West, 35 from the North West, 22 from the South-South, 16 from the South East, 25 from the North Central, and 24 from the North East.

The list then came under scrutiny for omitting a key figure like Femi Gbajabiamila, the President’s Chief of Staff, whose inclusion would have added to the South West tally.

Reacting to this, Sunday Dare apologised for the error via his X account on Thursday morning.

“We have noticed a number of errors in the list of appointments tweeted. We are sorry. We will provide an updated list later. Thank you,” Dare wrote.
